Campaign launch: 50 Kreislers for the whole of Berlin

Berlin is currently subsidizing repairs with the ReparaturBONUS one-off grants. Although this makes repairing attractive at first, it does not solve the problem in the long term. We have an idea that really works: permanent infrastructure instead of short-term bonuses.

With the „50 Kreisler for Berlin“ campaign, we are calling for the establishment of 50 repair and rental locations close to people's homes by 2030 - spread across the entire city. With the budget that currently flows into the ReparaturBONUS (around 2.5 million euros), a nationwide, permanent structure could be created.

From pilot to urban strategy

Our first location in Gropiusstadt shows that the model works: Hundreds of repairs, strong volunteer commitment and a firm foothold in the neighborhood after just one year. Repairing became as natural there as shopping.

Now it's time for the next step: circular basic services within walking distance - accessible in a maximum of 15 minutes on foot, in central first floor locations, for all Berliners regardless of income.

A social franchise model is planned with 50 locations in 50 neighborhoods - more than there are McDonald's branches in Berlin. Up to 2.5 jobs will be created at each location. At the same time, each Kreisler will be a consumer-free meeting place and social infrastructure in the neighborhood.

The campaign is aimed at politicians, administrators and urban society - with a view to the Berlin elections in 2026. The aim is to gradually open new locations from 2027.

The initiative is supported by numerous players from the circular economy and cooperative business, including Zero Waste e.V., Circular Berlin, FixFirst, Precious Plastic Berlin, Kunst-Stoffe e.V. and many more.
